Lehigh County does not maintain a fixed facility for the disposal materials but rather offers one day events. Currently we are working on our next Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection event. We plan on offering a RESIDENTIAL DROP-OFF ONLY event during the fall of 2023. Because this program is so costly, and it is paid for by the taxpayers of Lehigh County there is a mandatory pre-registration process online that residents will be required to follow. This helps us to verify the residency of the participants, and it helps the residents identify what materials are truly hazardous. Residents will also be able to select an appointment time to safely drop of their materials. This pre-registration process will be via a link which will be available around mid-summer on the front page of the County website. It is not there yet and won't be until all of the details of the event have been worked out so keep checking back. If you have questions you are encouraged to contact us at (610)782-3073 for information on alternative safe disposal methods. We can also provide you with the contact information for commercial entities who specialize in the safe disposal of these items for a fee. You would be responsible for this directly out of your pocket. Because of the high costs that they themselves incur, the minimum that they charge is $500.00 and again, that comes directly from the resident that engages their services at the time of service.
