Lehigh County Community Corrections
It is the goal of the Lehigh County Department of Corrections to facilitate successful reentry of offenders back into the community through participation in Community Corrections. Criteria for participating in Community Corrections programs is designed to provide maximum opportunity for fully sentenced offenders who will be returning to our neighborhoods within a relatively short period of time.
Community Corrections Center
Renovated in 2011, the Community Corrections Center is a 400-bed residential facility which provides a cost-effective alternative to secure confinement. Often referred to as “work release”, this facility affords sentenced individuals varied prescriptive rehabilitative programs, as well as the opportunity to enter the community for work, to perform community service work, and to utilize community-based resources, under structured parameters. *This facility is currently not in operation.
Community Corrections Supervision
Created in 2022, the Community Corrections Supervision (CCS) Program allows eligible offenders to serve their sentences under Global Positioning System (GPS) monitoring. Each participant is reviewed and approved by corrections staff; the same staff who monitor the program 24/7. Each participant is required to have an approved home site, obtain and maintain verified employment or volunteer work, report for case management meetings and drug/alcohol testing, as well as abide by all court ordered stipulations including mental health and substance abuse treatment.
Community Corrections Supervision Transitional Housing
The Community Corrections Supervision Transitional Housing (CCS-THP) Program was developed to provide unhoused eligible offenders the opportunity to serve their terms of confinement in a shared housing model under GPS monitoring. Approved offenders reside in a leased residential property in order to gain employment and secure an approved home plan. Participants are provided community-based services through a contracted provider, which include but is not limited to: utilizing an evidence-based screening tool to develop individualized case plans, providing assistance to find viable employment, transportation, budgeting, offering education and referrals to address additional needs, such as mental health and substance abuse treatment.
