Cedarview Cooperative Trout Nursery stands on the site of former well-known trout ponds in Dorneyville, near Cedar Creek Parkway West and the Cedarbrook Nursing home. When Lehigh County acquired the land, they cleared it of brush and discovered the remnants a trout nursery. Recognizing its potential, the Cedarbrook Sportman's Club, along with their volunteers, worked tirelessly to preserve and revive this historic site.
Through their efforts, the nursery continues to raise healthy trout, which are used for supplemental stocking by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) throughout the fishing season. This initiative not only supports local anglers but also enhances the biodiversity of local creeks.
Our Mission
At Cedarview Co-Op Trout Nursery, we are dedicated to the sustainable production and cultivation of high-quality trout. We aim to provide local anglers with healthy, robust fish while contributing to conservation efforts in our area.
We believe that every step we take should benefit both our ecosystem and the communities we serve. Transparency ensures that all our processes are open and understandable. Collaboration with local organizations, like Cedarbrook Sportman's Club and Lehigh County Parks & Recreation. allows us to leverage local expertise and resources.
A Community Effort
The Cedarview Co-Op Trout Nursery thrives thanks to the dedicated volunteers from Cedarbrook Sportman's Club. These passionate individuals ensure the nursery operates efficiently and effectively.
Our Stocking Program
As part of our commitment to local conservation and recreation, we stock several Lehigh County waterways with healthy trout populations. These creeks offer excellent fishing opportunities and provide a thriving habitat for the trout we carefully raise and release. These creeks include the Little Lehigh Creek, Jordan Creek, Cedar Creek, and Swabia Creek.
Community Outreach
One of the highlights of our yearly calendar is our collaboration with Cedarbrook Nursing Care and Rehabilitation. We organize a special trout stocking and fishing event for the senior residents, allowing them to enjoy a nostalgic day of fishing.
Looking to the Future
Cedarview Co-Op Trout Nursery aspires to increase community involvement, and enhance its conservation efforts. By doing so, we hope to continue our legacy of sustainable aquaculture and community service, ensuring that the beauty and bounty of our local waterways are preserved for future generations.
