On October 16, 2025, the Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services had the honor of hosting the Pennsylvania Department of Aging’s rollout celebration and media event for C-Screen, held at Cedar View Apartments, Lehigh County’s own senior independent living high-rise community.

Speakers at the event included J.R. Reed, Executive Director of the Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services; Phil Armstrong, Lehigh County Executive; Geoff Brace, Lehigh County Commissioner; and Louise Hein, a resident of Cedar View Apartments. Each emphasized the importance of this new tool in promoting safety, accountability, and empowerment for older adults and their families as they navigate care options and aging in place.
C-Screen is a new online tool designed to screen, verify, and rate the hiring practices of in-home care provider agencies. Led by Jason Kavulich, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, this initiative aims to enhance transparency and accountability in the home care industry while helping protect older adults and empower families to make informed care decisions.
The web-based platform is part of Governor Josh Shapiro’s Administration’s commitment to strengthening Pennsylvania’s aging services infrastructure through the implementation of Aging Our Way, PA—a comprehensive plan to support lifelong independence.
Pennsylvania’s 52 Area Agencies on Aging, including the Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services, are currently piloting the C-Screen platform, with the option to publicly share provider ratings in the near future.
