The District Attorney is charged with seeking justice for all concerned when criminal charges have been filed and to effectively prosecute those individuals who commit both adult and juvenile crimes. He is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer for the County and works closely with all police departments within the County.
The District Attorney's Office has created task forces and specialized investigators to combat a variety of crimes. It is the D.A.'s intention to continue its specialized investigations, such as child abuse, domestic violence, auto theft, insurance fraud and drug offenses, and create new initiatives to combat crime and improve the criminal justice sytem.
Our D.U.I. Processing Center is now fully operational, saving our municipal police departments valuable man-hours.
Within the community, we offer as much support as possible to make our communities safe. In an effort to encourage participation form the community, we purchase Crime Watch and Drug Free signs for the communities and participate in many community-oriented events.
The District Attorney's Office processes approximately 3800 criminal cases a year, in addition to Juvenile, Summary Appeal, Private Complaints, Forfeitures and Probation Violation cases.
