The primary responsibilities of this office include the probate of estates and to act as an agent for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the collection of inheritance taxes.
The Register of Wills’ staff is not permitted to offer any assistance or advice in the preparation and filing of any documentation required to raise an estate or any subsequent documentation required under Pennsylvania Law. Due to the possible complexities of administering an estate, it is suggested you contact counsel for assistance.
The Register of Wills provides many of the forms needed for estate administration, including the form for the inheritance tax return. The offering of these forms is not a statement that no other forms are necessary or that those provided must be
completed in every instance. It is the responsibility of the executor/administrator to file all necessary documents.
