Visiting Information
General population inmates may receive visitors every three days on a rotating basis according to their housing unit assignment.

Inmates in administrative segregation receive one visit per week for a period of 30 minutes. Inmates in disciplinary segregation receive one 30-minute visit approximately every 30 days contingent on their behavior.

Rules

  1. Non-contact visits are conducted in 30-minute sessions and, if conditions allow, may continue for an indefinite period.
  2. Only two visitors, including a baby or child, may visit an inmate at any given time.
  3. Visitors are restricted to one visit per day.
  4. In order to expedite the visiting process, visitors should know the inmate's full name and identification number.
  5. All visitors 18 years and older shall be required to provide government-issued identification that includes a photo and date of birth.

    Examples of appropriate identification include but are not limited to driver's license, passport, medical assistance cards and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation identification. Expired identification cards and check cashing cards are not accepted.

    Visitors who do not provide an acceptable form of official identification with a photo and a date of birth will not be admitted into Lehigh County Prison.

  6. A parent or legal guardian must accompany any person under 18 years of age, unless the minor is visiting a parent. An original birth certificate that includes both parents. names must be presented at each visit. Photocopies are not acceptable. The escorting adult is responsible for the behavior of the minor visitor. The escorting adult will, at no time, leave a child unattended. Correctional staff does not supervise visiting minors.
  7. Visitors believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted to visit or to remain on facility grounds.
  8. All visitors are expected to use good judgment in their dress. No provocative clothing will be allowed. Shoes are required. Hats, with the exception of religious apparel, and outer garments must be secured before the visit begins.
  9. All personal items must be secured before entering the metal detectors priorto the visit.
  10. A mother with a baby may take one diaper and one baby bottle into the screen room. All other items must be secured into locker provided. Strollers must remain in the lobby.
  11. Visitors who are disorderly or lewd will cause the visit to be terminated and they will be required to leave the prison.
  12. Visitors responsible for vandalism, including graffiti, will have their visiting privileges suspended and will be required to pay for damages.
  13. Visitors must comply with all lawful verbal orders given by Department of Corrections staff.
  14. Violations of any rules or regulations or inappropriate behavior on the part of the visitor and/or the inmate may lead to suspension or denial of visiting privileges.
  15. All visitors, including children, are subject to search on entering the facility. The visitor has the option of submitting to the search or immediately leaving the facility.

Attorney visits

While attorneys may visit their clients at any reasonable time, preferred hours are
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Corrections personnel will accommodate visits at other times; however, attorneys should be aware that, depending on operational conditions in the facility, they might experience delays.

Attorneys are also required to present appropriate photo-identification as well as a Bar Association card.

Law enforcement visits

Law enforcement personnel may visit inmates at any reasonable time. Preferred hours are
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Corrections personnel will accommodate visits at other times; however, law enforcement officials should be aware that, depending on operational conditions in the facility, they might experience delays.

Law enforcement officials are required to secure all weapons and ammunition and present official identification prior to entering the facility.
