Lehigh Valley agencies, organizations offer free Thanksgiving meals before, after actual holiday

Some area agencies and organizations are offering free Thanksgiving meals before and after

Valley Wide Help, an information and referral service of the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley, has compiled a list of places offering assistance. Check back Wednesday for details on agencies offering meals on Thanksgiving day.

Allentown:

  • Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church (Everlasting Life Ministries), 224 N. Sixth St., Allentown; 610-776-4009; dinner served at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Volunteers are needed to serve meals. Volunteers are asked to arrive by 11 a.m. for the 12:30 p.m. seating and by 2:30 p.m. for the 3:30 p.m. seating. Baked goods, frozen turkeys and money are also needed.
  • Ecumenical Soup Kitchen/Catholic Charities, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 179 Chew St., Allentown; 610-435-1541; dinner served from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday.
  • New Generation Day Care, 712 W. Linden St. (side entrance), Allentown; 610-434-2456; dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
  • St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, 410 Union St., Allentown; call 610-435-8001 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.; 610-841-4407 during the evening; dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
  • United Faith Vision School, Dubbs Memorial United Church of Christ, 457 Allen St., Allentown; 610-439-8199; dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Easton:

  • Trinity Episcopal Church, 234 Spring Garden St., Easton; 610-253-0792; dinner from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday Dinner will be held at Third Street Alliance for Women and Children, 41 N. Third St. (enter through Third Street front door). No reservation is needed.

Food distribution locations:

  • City Limits Assembly of God, 302 Ridge Ave., Allentown; 610-776-8656; 6 p.m., Tuesday. This is a turkey and food bag distribution. Donations of turkeys and holiday meal trimmings are needed.
  • Families First, 610-863-3688; holiday food distribution for residents residing within the Pen Argyl School District. Donations of food and gift cards are needed and will be accepted until Monday.
  • Northern Lehigh Food Bank, 610-767-9525; 10 a.m. to noon Saturday; holiday food distribution for residents residing within the Northern Lehigh School District and/or Upper Lehigh County areas such as New Tripoli and Germansville.
